Culp, Lottie Named 2024 NSCA All-Americans

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) is proud to announce Bryce Culp and Markayla Lottie as recipients of the 2023 All-American Athlete Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year Award. This award recognizes both athletes' athletic accomplishments as well as their dedication to strength and conditioning.

Nominated by Brian Ciolek, head strength and conditioning coach at Avila University, both Lottie and Culp have showcased a determination to improve in athletics while maintaining academic prominence, a great model for all student-athletes at Avila University to follow.

"We are proud to have Coach Ciolek join the NSCA in its mission to safely improve athletic performance," said Eric McMahon, NSCA's Coaching and Sport Science Program Manager. "Supporting student-athletes like Markayla and Bryce guarantees a stronger future for the NSCA."

Bryce Culp and Markayla Lottie have both set themselves apart as successful athletes, committed students, and steadfast leaders. Both athletes are widely loved and respected on their respective teams (baseball and wrestling, respectively), and both were honored with the Avila Athletics Leadership Award this past school year. It's no surprise that the effort and dedication they show in their fields of study and arenas of competition is also reflected in their work ethic and dedication to the weight room.

"This honor is always significant for our newly inducted athletes," Ciolek wrote on social media this week. "This group is also unique because it signifies a decade of nominating athletes to represent Avila University with the NSCA!"

Avila's strength and conditioning team has bestowed this annual honor on two Avila student-athletes every year since 2015. Lottie snaps a four-year stretch of softball players winning this award from the Avila strength team, while Culp is the second straight baseball player to win. Keaton Ashby and Payton Walton were Avila's recipients in 2023.
