Avila Athletics Hall of Fame
The Avila Athletics Hall of Fame was established in 1982 to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of student-athletes, coaches, administrators and all others that have exemplified greatness while representing Avila University on and off the field. The Hall of Fame display is located on the upper-East wall of Mabee Fieldhouse by the Northeast entrance.
Hall of Fame Selection Criteria
The purpose of the Avila University Athletics Hall of Fame is to strengthen and perpetuate athletic tradition at Avila University. Membership in the Athletic Hall of Fame shall consist of those outstanding student athletes, coaches, and administrators whose dedication and performance merit this honor.
Any individual or group can nominate a former athlete, coach, team, faculty, or staff member for the Avila Athletics Hall of Fame. To nominate someone, fill in the Online Nomination Form and submit to the Avila Athletic Department, or fill out the PDF version at the bottom of this page and submit via mail or email to HallOfFame@avila.edu.
Eligibility for Student-Athletes
Individual athletes shall be eligible for the Hall of Fame by achieving any of the following (five-year waiting period after the Hall of Fame qualifications have been achieved):

NAIA First Team or Second Team All-American in the primary recognized poll – All NAIA certified sports (Baseball, Basketball, Bowling, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Indoor/Outdoor Track and Field,Soccer, Softball, Volleyball)

NAIA Champion – Individual Sports (Cross-country, Golf, Indoor/Outdoor Track and Field, Wrestling)
-
Earned multiple NAIA or conference regular season and/or postseason honors (All-conference, All-tournament team, Player of the Year, Player of the Week, etc.)

Maintained a personal reputation for integrity that reflects favorably on the University and consistent is consistent with our Mission and Values
In addition to the preceding, an athlete must have played two or more seasons in a varsity sport at Avila University and earned a baccalaureate or graduate degree from Avila University (The Hall of Fame Selection Committee may recommend to the University President exceptions to this requirement for athletes not meeting the foregoing standard due to extraordinary circumstances)
Eligibility for Teams, Coaches and Athletic Administrators
Teams, coaches and administrators shall be eligible for the Hall of Fame by achieving any of the following (five-year waiting period after the Hall of Fame qualifications have been achieved):

NAIA sanctioned teams that qualify for their respective National Tournament, or finishes in the Top 20 in the final national poll

Cheer/Dance – National Championship

Head Coaches are eligible if their respective team advanced to the National Tournament and he/she coached at Avila for a minimum of 3 seasons

Athletics Director to be deemed eligible after serving a minimum of two years and having a team qualify for admittance to the Hall of Fame
Qualifying for the Hall of Fame does not guarantee admittance. The Hall of Fame Committee will be the caretaker of the Hall of Fame, and will make recommendations to the Athletics Director, using the above criteria as a base line for admittance. Induction into the Hall of Fame will be voted on by the Hall of Fame Committee. Additionally, inductees can be removed from the Avila Athletic Hall of Fame for any action that brings dishonor to Avila University. The Hall of Fame Committee would vote on possible removal, and the Athletics Director would make the final decision after the vote is tallied.
Eligibility for Special Admittance
An individual or team is still eligible for nomination into the Hall of Fame even if they do not fit the above criteria through Special Admittance, which include but are not limited to the following:

Individuals and/or teams that have actively supported the athletics programs and department in a positive manner, bringing recognition to Avila Athletics

Individuals that displayed courageous acts of sportsmanship or gratitude as a member of the Avila community
Selection Committee
The Hall of Fame Selection Committee shall consist of five (5) persons, each having one (1) vote. The committee will be made up of the following individuals:

The Avila University Director of Sports Information.
-
A Faculty Athletic Representative.
-
A representative from the Avila University Alumni Association. (Selected by the Director of Athletics)
-
An Avila University Athletics staff member. (Selected by the Director of Athletics)
-
A member of the Athletic Hall of Fame. (Selected by the Director of Athletics)
The Director of Athletics shall serve as the chairperson for the Hall of Fame Selection Committee, and will not submit a vote during the voting process. In order to be admitted into the Avila University Athletics Hall of Fame, the individual/team must receive three (3) "yes" votes out of the five (5) total votes. The Avila University President will have final approval on all Hall of Fame inductees.
Nominations
All nominations are due by March 25th in order for the applicant to be considered for induction in the upcoming Hall of Fame class. All nominations turned in after the March 25th deadline will be considered for the following year's Hall of Fame class.
The annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place each Fall on the campus of Avila University. The date of the Induction Ceremony, as well as the names of those being inducted into the Hall of Fame that year, will be announced annually on the second Monday of April.
