MEN’S BASKETBALL FALLS TO SAINT MARY

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – In a matchup that was pushed up a day due to impending weather in the Midwest, Avila men's basketball couldn't take advantage of the altered schedule and lost to Saint Mary on Tuesday night, 77-56.

The Spires dominated down low in the victory, outrebounding the Eagles by 14 and outscoring Avila in the paint, 20-4.

Saint Mary was also able to take advantage in the transition game, scoring 19 points off of 15 Avila turnovers.

Avila got off to a slow start in the first half, shooting 33 percent from the floor, missing all six shots from behind the arc and hitting just 53 percent of its attempts from the foul line.

Xavier Kahube led Avila in scoring, notching 20 points and five boards.

The Eagles will look to end their losing streak on Saturday in the team's final road game of the season. Tipoff versus Sterling is slated for 3 PM.
