Softball Drops Game with Avila to Open Friends Invite

Softball took on Avila in their opening game of the Friends Invite on Saturday. The Eagles posted a 7-2 win over the Tigers.

Avila scored a run in the first inning and two in the second inning for a 3-0 lead. Doane was able to cut into the lead on an Anna Prauner single that plated Jaiden Papik in the third inning. Jasmine Villegas drove in Grace Dowding with a RBI-single in the fourth inning, cutting the Eagle lead to 3-2. Avila scored four runs in the sixth inning to secure the win.

Faith McDonald started in the circle and went 4.0 innings, allowing three runs on six hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Faith Molina threw the final 3.0 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits while striking out four.

The Tiger offense had four hits in the game. Joining Prauner and Villegas with hits were Papik and Marisa Marquez. Hannah Pack had a stolen base in the game.

Doane will take on Bethany in their next game.
