XAVIER KAHUBE NAMED ALL-KCAC THIRD TEAM
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After a standout season in his first year on campus, Avila big man Xavier Kahube was named to the All-KCAC third team, the conference announced today.
Kahube made his presence known in his first season in the purple and gold, averaging 18 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.1 blocked shots, all team-highs.
Kahube finished No. 3 in the KCAC in scoring and sixth in rebounding.
The junior from Independence was also a two-time KCAC Player of the Week Award winner.
“We are incredibly proud of Xavier and this is a tremendous honor,” said Avila head coach Tyler Bredehoeft. “He has been an impact player for us this season and this is a great recognition for him. We will use this to continue to build our program.”
Kahube received 66 votes from KCAC head coaches and fell one vote shy of making the second team.
Playing in all 27 games this season, helping Avila increase its year-over-year win total by seven, Kahube had nine 20-point games and eight double-doubles on the season. On the defensive end, the junior had nine games with multiple blocked shots and five with two or more steals.
Kahube is the first Avila men’s basketball player to make one of the three all-conference teams since Eric Smith Jr. made All-KCAC third-team following the 2021-22 season.
