SIXTEEN EAGLES NAMED DAKTRONICS SPRING SCHOLAR-ATHLETES
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Sixteen Avila student-athletes from baseball and softball have been named to the Daktronics Spring Scholar-Athletes list, the NAIA announced.
Per the NAIA, to qualify as a Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete, students must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, appear on the eligibility certificate for their sport, and have attended their institution for at least one full year. This year, the list features an impressive number of student-athletes who have met these rigorous standards.
“This is an phenomenal achievement for our student-athletes,” said Avila Athletics Director Shawn Summe. “They came here to get an opportunity to play their sport but to get their degree is the reason they are in college. To see the success of our student-athletes on the academic side is more rewarding because it means they are on track to graduate and do great things in life."
Baseball: Gio Armas, Travis Curry, Corbin Hamman, Holton Miller, Hadley Price, Rhett Rogers and Landon Vahle.
Softball: Emily Branson, McKayla Cotton, Julia Douglass, Kennedee Lara, Myra Megli, Jordy Pollo, Aarilynn Richardson, Laila Rueda, Jaka Sharp and Ka’Zem Wood.
