He parlayed that success in Kansas City into a contract with the St. Louis Cardinals, where he advanced as far as AAA Memphis in 2015 – the only former Eagle baseball player to ever make it to AAA. Thomas deferred his induction from a year ago, and will now formally enter the Hall as a member of the Class of 2021.

The team also earned a third-place trophy in the Jazz Division at the championships in Orlando, Fla.

1975 Avila Volleyball Team

Every once in a while you have a team that makes an impact beyond the school they play for, and that is what Avila's first volleyball team did. There was no way of knowing the legacy they would leave back in 1975 but it is clear now. They set the stage for success as leaders and trailblazers, they brought Avila recognition and distinction. This inaugural team developed women who went on to startup companies such as Cerner and Phoenix Healthcare Solutions. What this group of young women did on the court was great for the program, but their success off the court will forever be engrained into the mission and success of Avila University and its athletic department.
