CHEER PLACES THIRD AT KCAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – Competing at the conference tournament for the first time since 2020, the Avila cheer squad placed third at the 2025 KCAC Championship on Friday on the campus of the University of Saint Mary.

After a five-year hiatus at the conference tournament, Avila's 72.26 final score is a remarkable accomplishment.

"We had some mistakes in our routines in both the prelims and finals, but we improved on our score by over three points (in the final round)," said Avila head coach Julia Kramm. "The team made some good improvements in our finals performance to hold our third-place position! Overall we had a strong showing and we are very proud of our performances."

The Eagles finished in third place, behind Saint Mary (86.70) and Friends (80.73).

In addition to the tremendous team performance, Avila had six athletes earn individual All-KCAC honors:

Caylen Weinzerl and Kaylee Killion were selected to the All-KCAC First Team.

Ashlee Padron and Jaiden Davis earned All-KCAC Second Team honors and De'Avai Richardson and Emily Murphy were named All-KCAC Honorable mention.

The KCAC Championships conclude the NAIA portion of Avila's schedule, but the squad now begins preparations for the NCA College Nationals in Daytona, Fla., on April 10 and 11.
