MEN’S BASKETBALL SNAPS LOSING STREAK, DOMINATES YORK

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A dominating second half ended men's basketball's nine-game losing streak with an 82-69 victory over York on Wednesday evening at Mabee Fieldhouse.

Holding just a three-point lead at halftime after leading by as many as 10 in the first half, the Eagles came out hot in the second half, outscoring York by 10 to pick up victory No. 10 on the season. Avila began the second half on an 11-0 run and didn't look back.

The Eagles shot 51.5 percent on the game – their first time making at least half of its shots in a game since January 11 – and also knocked down a season-high 10 shots from long range en route to the win. Avila dominated down low too, outscoring York in the paint 46-14. The defensive played a big role as well, forcing 13 Panther turnovers.

Xavier Kahube had another strong night for Avila, scoring 24 points. He was joined by Joe Kearney, who put up 19 points on 5-of-8 shooting from three-point range and Brionne Williams with 12 points.

Already having more than doubled their win total from last season, Avila will wrap up the 2024-25 campaign on Saturday with senior day. Tipoff versus Tabor is slated for 4 PM.
