AVILA BOWLING FINISHES AT THE TOP OF THE COLUMBIA COUGAR CLASH
COLUMBIA, Mo. – One of the best all-around days in the short history of Avila bowling occurred just down I-70 on Saturday afternoon as both the men and women's bowling teams finished atop the leaderboards at the Columbia Cougar Clash.
In 25 Baker games, the men's squad of Brody Stanback, Caleb Wangler, Davis Best, Evan Serrage, Garrett Messenger and Max Sturgeon finished with a top score of 4,755.
On the women's end, Devyn Coleman, Kamdyn Burman, Kiara Gonzalez, Kirsten Zirjacks, Beka Fielder and Zoe Fox put up a score of 4,533 (181.32 average).
"Both teams never had the lead until the final set. They just hung in there all day, filled frames and took advantage of a few breaks," said head coach Paul Wolf.
"Evan Serrage, bowling in his hometown, had a very consistent day, as did Brody Stanback. Kamdyn Burman was the workhorse for the women's team and Devyn Coleman – who struggled early in the event – came up big in the last two games to secure the win."
"All in all, it was a great team effort."
Avila will prepare for Day 2 of the Cougar Clash on Sunday before hosting their lone home event of the season next weekend at Aaron's Family Fun Center beginning at 9 AM on January 25.
