Course: Swope Memorial Golf Course in Kansas City, Missouri is a par-72, 6,400 yard layout. Marked by a classic winding entrance befitting the course perched atop the highest point in Kansas City's Swope Park, this tree-lined shotmaker's delight was designed in 1934 by the famous golf architect A.W. Tillinghast. Tillinghast, known for his major works Winged Foot, Baltusrol, and Bethpage Black, created a course that tests every shot in the player's bag through a combination of uneven lies, strategically placed bunkers, blind shots, and numerous multi-tiered greens. Zoysia fairways, thick bluegrass rough, and bent grass greens allow for excellent playing conditions year-round. As the former home of a PGA Tour stop, Ben Hogan and Sam Snead once walked these fairways. Later, a local kid by the name of Tom Watson competed here. More recently, the 2005 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links was played at Swope Memorial.
