WOMEN’S SOCCER WINS THIRD-STRAIGHT, SHUTS OUT TABOR

HILLSBORO, Kan. – Another great all-around performance from Avila women's soccer saw them pick up a 2-0 shutout win at Tabor on Saturday.

It was Avila's sixth shutout victory of the season. During the Eagles' current three-game winning streak, Avila has outscored its opponents 10-1.

Avila had the first three shot attempts of the match. The fourth was where they made their mark.

Dribbling down the near side, Danielle Desmarteau played a perfect low cross to senior Addison Yinger, who placed the ball just past Tabor's keeper for an early 1-0 Avila lead and the only goal of the first half.

The Eagles controlled possession for much of the second half before a rising star set up another Avila scoring opportunity.

Freshman Cali Lasater dribbled around a pair of Bluejay defenders and found a cutting Annika Holtorf with a back-heel pass. Holtorf nailed a five-yard shot in the top of the net to give Avila a huge 2-0 lead.

Cali Lasater is currently on a three-game assist streak and has a helper in four of the last five matches. Since Oct. 9, Lasater has two goals and four assists.

Lasater's seven assists are tied for the KCAC lead.

Avila controlled the vast majority of the game, outshooting Tabor 14-5.

Kenan Ebel continued to be one of the conference's most reliable goalkeepers. The senior stopped all four shots she faced and has six shutouts of the season. She is fourth in the KCAC with a 1.13 GAA.

Avila (10-3-3, 7-2-2 KCAC) is back at The Z on Wednesday as the take on Friends. Kickoff is slated for 12 PM.
