
VOLLEYBALL PICKS UP FIRST WIN OF THE YEAR AT CCC
MCPHERSON, Kan. – In an early-week matchup at Central Christian College, Avila volleyball picked up their first win of the season on Tuesday in McPherson, Kan, 3-1.
After dropping the first set, the Eagles came back to control the remaining three sets and pick up their first victory of the 2024 campaign. CCC picked up the first three points in the second set, but Avila answered back to win the next five points and never looked back and would not trail for the remainder of the match.
Megan Davies had another tremendous performance for Avila, finishing with a match-high 19 kills. Daphne Gardner turned in a strong match as well, finishing with 35 assists and Sophia Giorgio led all players with 12 digs on the afternoon.
Maddie Jones turned in a strong all-around performance, helping Avila to the victory with 10 kills, eight digs and three blocks to go along with a service ace.
Avila will continue their season with four matches at the College of the Ozarks tournament on Friday and Saturday. The Eagles will look to win consecutive games beginning at 5 PM on Friday vs. Science & Arts (Okla.). Follow Avila volleyball all season at AvilaAthletics.com and @Avila_Athletics.
