ALEXIS HATFIELD NAMED KCAC WOMEN’S WRESTLER OF THE WEEK
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After a stellar week as she continues to climb her way up the NAIA rankings, Avila’s Alexis Hatfield has been named the KCAC Women’s Wrestler of the Week, the conference announced today.
“This is an outstanding and well-deserved honor for Alexis,” said Avila women’s wrestling head coach Sara Hilliard. “She is on fire at the moment after a phenomenal week and I could not be more proud of her. This is a big moment for our program and we are all very excited for this accomplishment and we can’t wait to see her season continue to excel.”
Hatfield, ranked No. 14 in the NAIA, went 4-0 this week and took first place at Saturday’s York Open. The Kansas City native defeated No. 17 Sage Beltran in the semifinal before winning via tech fall over Alanis Serrano-Rios in the finals.
Hatfield and her teammates will hit the mat on January 31 at the Spire Classic at Saint Mary University.
