XC: Eagles open season with 6th place finish at Maple Leaf Invitational

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The women's cross country team opened their season on Saturday, placing sixth at the Maple Leaf Invitational at Baldwin City Golf Course in Baldwin City, Kan.

Three Eagles finished in the top forty individually, led by Tenka Stringer, who finished in 16th place in the 4K race with a time of 16:38.53 on Saturday. Freshman Alexandra Comparato earned a 24th place finish with a time of 16:53.70, and Penny Fenn finished 35th with a time of 17:32.59.

Abigail Connor and Nancy Chicas also ran as part of the women's team on Saturday, with Connor finishing 53rd and Chicas in 69th place.

Conditions were warm and windy on Saturday for the race that began at 9:30 a.m., with temperatures reaching nearly ninety degrees at race time.

The Eagles will be back in action next weekend at the Rocky Raven Invitational in Atchison, Kan.
