XC: Fenn places 204th at NAIA Championships

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Avila cross country runner Penny Fenn represented the university at the NAIA Women's Cross Country National Championships on Friday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Fenn, a junior from Cottonwood, Ariz., finished with a time of 19:28.4 in Friday's race at Seminole Valley Park, good for a 204th place finish. The 5K race featured a total of 341 racers.

Friday marked the second time that Fenn competed in the NAIA Cross Country National Championships, and the first since she competed at the championships in Elsah, Ill. in 2016 to close out her freshman campaign. Fenn finished with a time of 19:03.4 and placed 129th in that race.

Fenn is the only Eagle to have ever competed at the cross country championships in the program's history.

It was a chilly day at the Seminole Valley Park in Cedar Rapids on Friday, with temperatures hovering in the mid-30s at race time and high temperatures reaching the lower-40s.
