BELLEVUE, Neb. – Avila volleyball dropped two matches this morning as part of the GoSarpy.com tournament in the Omaha suburbs.
In the 9 AM match against Dickinson State (N.D.), Avila fell 3-0. The Eagles were able to keep it close in the first set, losing 25-21. A back-and-forth set, Dickinson State pulled away in the end, taking advantage of two Avila attack errors.
The Eagles' second match of the morning was a heartbreaking defeat, with Avila losing in three sets by a combined six points to Doane. Avila never trailed by more than four points in any of the three sets.
Maddie Jones and Paige Huhman paced the Eagles, hitting .350 and .364, respectively, in the match. Jones and Megan Davies also led Avila with 10 kills each, with Huhman adding nine of her own.
